Moving On Long Distance

Moving long distance can sometimes mean changing your entire lifestyle, especially if that long distance move includes changes in latitude! For those who are moving from the colder and more temperate northern states to the warmer southern states, there is much about your lifestyle and your possessions that you are probably no longer going to need.

Moving On Long Distance

If you are undergoing a long distance move from the Northeast to the South, there will be items that you won’t need in your new home state, such as outdoor equipment. While a snow blower is necessary equipment in New England, there is no need for it down south where a dusting is a once-in-a-generation event. In addition, Floridians tend to have smaller lawns than New Englanders, so your ride-on lawnmower may be overkill.

Your choice in automobiles may also be ready for a change during your move, especially if you have owned an SUV for snowy months. A smaller car will probably be better down south, where 4X4 drive is usually not needed.

You are going to be making some big changes in your life when you move long distance to your new home. New environment, new habits, new hobbies and new friends, your needs and wants will be different in a short period of time. In order to prepare for that, start thinking about the things that are necessary in your current home but that won’t be necessary in your future home.

Instead of paying the costs to ship items to your new home when you won’t use them there, try to sell or donate them before moving and save yourself some money!
