Moving Tips Quell the Chaos
After weeks and even months of planning, the actual day of your long distance move can be either chaotic or anticlimactic, depending on the planning that you put into final stages of organization.
Moving Tips for The Day
Follow these handy moving tips and the final day of your long distance move will be stress free and over quickly.
- Clearly label and set aside items that you don’t want loaded on the trailer!
There are always a few items that you either want or need to move with you, rather than on the moving truck itself. However, once everything is in boxes, the moving crew will not know which ones you plan on moving yourself unless it is clearly labeled! - Don’t forget your children.
Make sure you kids’ special items are set aside and unpacked first to have them be easily accessible. Especially when moving long distance with children, remember to have them pack a box of their “special” items. These are things that they’ll want to have with them as they make the difficult transition to their new home. If you are not taking this box with you personally, tell your driver and crew that it is to be loaded last and unloaded first. That way your kids do not need to wait for their special items. - Bring out the Trash!
Eliminate as much of the trash as you can before your big moving day. There will always be last-minute garbage build up the day prior to and the day of loading, but any more than that will cause a problem.
