Pocket Savings with Full Service Moves
A full service moving estimate can be pricey when you have chosen to include those extra services and charges that add up at the end. One of the ways to cut down costs on a moving estimate is to carefully compare the bids and quotes sent by the moving companies. When you are reviewing your free full service moving estimates, you may be tempted to accept the first and cheapest estimate given to you but comparing estimates does not always mean comparing the same services. You may find out that your great low rate came with no extra services, only to be tacked on last minute at inflated fees.
Saving Money on Full Service Moves
Share the Shipping Costs with Commercial Transport Goods
- One of the best ways to save money on your full service move is by taking advantage of those moving companies that offer to share the costs of transport for your goods. They do that by renting unused space on your trailer out to commercial businesses that need to transport palletized goods.
- Your household items will be the only household items on the trailer, so they’ll never get mixed up.
- Your household items are kept separate from the commercial goods on the trailer by the use of a Bulkhead. There are two types of Bulkheads that are available, both a hydrolic one and a lockable one. Bulkheads consist of plywood panels with metal loadbars attached to them. The difference between the two types is that the hydraulic bulkheads apply pressure to the sides of the trailer to hold it in place, verses the lockable version that has T-shaped ends that attach to the slats in the trailer walls.
Either way, a commercial company shares the cost of your trailer while you pocket the savings and use it for whichever other moving option you like, or even use it to throw a party on your first weekend in your new home.
