Packing tips are important for keeping you organized and on time when you have a household moving to a new location. Every year there is more accumulation of goods in our households that, before we know it, every room has its share of clutter. No where is that clutter more obvious than when you’re trying to pack it all up to move. While every household has its own packing peculiarities, small appliances seem to be an issue for most people when packing.

As the square footage of our kitchens has grown, so too has the desire to fill it with more and more small appliances for every type of need. The popularity of home electronic items has added an entirely new dimension to the packing experience and more time is being required in order to ensure they arrive at your destination safely.

Packing Tips for the Appliance Age

  • The first and best advice is that if you saved the original cartons and packing materials from your appliances, now is the best time to use the again. They were designed with your appliance in mind and should keep it safe. If you didn’t save the packing materials, however, you can still pack like a pro.
  • Small electronic items such as alarm clocks or radios can be packed in between layers of linens for cushioning. Don’t forget to label the box, however, so you won’t forget the items are in there wrapped up!
  • Coffee makers and blenders should be carefully drained of any water and dried. Pack the glass parts in bubble wrap with plenty of newspaper or wrap to fill the box and ensure that the appliance doesn’t shift in transit.
