Packing Tips As a Tool
Stuffing everything into a moving box and writing “L” on it for “Living Room” is not a fast, efficient or easy way to pack. The kind of Packing tips that will actually help you may seem like easy common sense ideas, but most people ignore them in the rush of packing and moving. Trust us, by reading the right packing tips ahead of time and creating a plan before the first box is unfolded, you were save yourself time, money, frustration and probably a few gray hairs.
Packing Tips before you pack
- Make a list. You don’t even have to check it twice, just keep it both simple and short. You should make a “short list” for each room and its contents. This will help you determine how many boxes you will need, what kind of additional packing materials will be necessary for that room, and how much space it will require. The most important key to a successful packing plan is to break it down into manageable chunks. Since your home is naturally separated into specific rooms with specific functions anyway, it’s logical to use that theory to compartmentalize your packing plan.
- Use the list. A tool is only useful if you use it. Use the list you made to get all of your packing supplies together for each room. When you are ready to pack, your packing supplies will be ready, too.
- Make a plan. Plan on packing each room, entirely, at once. If you find something that belongs in a different room, don’t be tempted to just pack it anyway. It will only increase your workload when unpacking!
